About the show
The Haunting of Hill House is a gothic horror drama series created by Mike Flanagan, based loosely on the 1959 novel by Shirley Jackson. The show follows the Crain family, who move into the mysterious Hill House with plans to renovate and sell it—but instead, they’re plagued by terrifying supernatural events. Years later, the now-grown siblings are still haunted—both literally and emotionally—by what happened there. The series blends psychological horror with deep emotional storytelling, exploring themes of grief, trauma, and the inescapable pull of the past. It’s eerie, heartbreaking, and beautifully crafted.
Why?
I watched this show when I was younger with my sister, it wasn’t scary at first. I enjoyed it quite a lot but only after I completed the show I started seeing things. I would see the broken neck lady staring at me while I was in bed, I would see her in my day to day life. It left me traumatized and that’s why I love this show so much. I wouldn’t watch it again but I would recommend it to everyone.
